Color in the Interdisciplinary Studio

Color is an integral component of the design process. Color influences the ways people respond to designs and students need a clear theoretical understanding of the mechanics of color. In the interdisciplinary studio color is introduced through a series of exercises where students learn color theory and apply it to projects in the studio.

Color Studies of the Masters

In these exercises students critically study a Master artist by replicating their work. Next the students translate the replica work into monochromatic and complementary colors. .

Watercolor Abstractions

After completing their study of the Masters, the students abstract forms from the work and using watercolor compose a new color scheme. Quick exercises in watercolor allow students to explore watercolor as a media while making their own interpretations and abstractions of the Master artwork.
