Color is an integral component of the design process. Color influences the ways people respond to designs and students need a clear theoretical understanding of the mechanics of color. In the interdisciplinary studio color is introduced through a series of exercises where students learn color theory and apply it to projects in the studio.

After completing their study of the Masters, the students abstract forms from the work and using watercolor compose a new color scheme. Quick exercises in watercolor allow students to explore watercolor as a media while making their own interpretations and abstractions of the Master artwork.
